Shooter in 26th & California Due in Bond Court Today

Tabari Harris, a 19 year old with a history in Chicago's 11th police district, is due in bond court today on one felony count of Aggravated Battery With a Firearm.



The Chicago Police Department's records of Mr. Harris list the following, starting at age 18:

625 ILCS 5.0/3-707: INSURANCE - OPERATE MTR VEHICLE WITHOUT Nov 12, 2015 @ 22:47

720 ILCS 5.0/31-4.5-A: OBSTRUCTING IDENTIFICATION Mar 22, 2016 @ 21:40

725 ILCS 5.0/110-3: ISSUANCE OF WARRANT Apr 26, 2016 @ 22:38 

10-8-515: SOLICITING UNLAWFUL BUSINESS Dec 02, 2016 @ 22:14

720 ILCS 5.0/24-5-B: POSS FIREARM W/DEFACED SERIAL NUMBER Jan 04, 2017 @ 12:31

The last two arrests happened on or after Harris's 19th birthday.


These arrests took place on beats 1121, 1113, 1115, and 1123 respectively.

According to police, "Harris's 22-year-old male victim was walking to the courthouse about 9:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of South California on Monday when a white van drove by and someone inside fired shots, police said at the time. The man suffered six gunshot wounds to the groin area and was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

An off-duty CPD officer saw Harris running away from the scene with a handgun and ran after him, police said. Harris was taken into custody in the 2800 block of West 25th Place and the weapon was recovered."

Harris is due in bond court today
